The introduction of implant “supercenters”, such as ClearChoice.

Dr. Kolinski and Dr. Crosby discuss the introduction of implant “supercenters”, such as ClearChoice, in their recent newsletter.

In the past decade, implant dentistry has opened new options in tooth replacement, restoring dental integrity, and self-confident smiles. Dental implants are now the fastest growing sector in dentistry today.

It is no surprise that as the market for implant dentistry continues to grow, our patients will be confronted with extensive industry marketing such as TeethToday, Teeth Now and Same Day Teeth. This marketing hype misses the point by talking about procedures and technology instead of focusing on patient outcomes. Information is key for consumers in today’s society. To address the future demand for dental implants, we, as dental professionals, have to be in a position to present dental implants as a treatment option and deliver appropriate knowledge and solutions concerning dental implants to our patients.

In the near future, there will be a number of companies, one such company being Clear Choice, that are marketing themselves as dental implant “supercenters”. These companies offer “one stop shopping” – from implant placement to the final restoration, all in one day. Clear Choice, and other companies like this, will be marketing to your patients. Clear Choice is already set to open in the Chicagoland area in December or early January.

The best way to keep our patients from seeking treatment from these companies is to:

  • Know what these companies are about
  • Increase your expertise in implant dentistry – be able to answer your patients’ questions and concerns when they see  these advertisements
  • Understand that you cannot do it alone – your staff is an integral part of the patient education and treatment process
  • Be confident in offering dental implants as a regular option in the treatment planning process

We are here to help. We can assist in education on implant dentistry for you and your staff through continuing education courses, personal contact and through the use of our website. Through this collaborative effort, we can continue to achieve predictable, esthetic results for our patients in our own offices, and in the process keep them from seeking treatment elsewhere.

Remember that almost anyone would prefer to do business with someone they know and trust versus a nameless, faceless company. Your personal contact with your patients is the best defense against losing your patients to these companies.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. This letter will additionally be posted on our website should you want to refer to it in the future. Please visit our website www.midwestdentalimplantology.com .

Sincerely, Dr. Martin Kolinski and Dr. Tricia Crosby
