Fall 2017 Dental Hygiene Seminar

Soft tissue augmentation has become a common treatment option for patients with gingival defects. While numerous techniques have been developed to achieve the desired results, many of the core principles have stayed the same. It is our goal to review WHY we graft, WHEN it is appropriate to graft, and the many TECHNIQUES and MATERIALS we can employ to meet our patients’ needs. This lecture will empower YOU to make appropriate evaluations as to when patients may need treatment.

Course objectives:

  • How to evaluate gingival recession and mucogingival deformities around teeth and implants and to determine when these sites should be treated
  • Review of terminology: Free Gingival Graft, Connective Tissue Graft, Allografts, Biologics
  • To review different techniques and when they are most appropriate
  • To explore new materials and techniques that your patients will be asking about (ie. what is the pinhole technique?)
